She had just finished her battle with some miscellaneous rocket grunts, yet for some reason they began to pull back from the Primal point. [break][break]

Was it because they had begun to win and were retreating? No, that couldn't be it. She felt a nightmarish chill run down her spine, as if someone was watching her, analyzing her, looking for any little chip in the walls she put up to jab right at her. [break][break]

All that armor she put over her heart wouldn't stop a well placed bullet. She looked around, her Alolan marowak brandishing it's flames in an attempt to create more light to make it easier to see.

the low fog grows thick and heavy. a dash of black spreads through its airy threads like nihilego ink dropped into watercolour before plunging the entirety of the mist in darkness.[break][break]

from the eddying smoke, a GLISCOR emerges from its caliginous cape. claws poised, it attempts to NIGHT SLASH the ELITE FOUR.[break][break]

but the boss expects resistance from her pokemon. perhaps, it is a test. an evaluation of supposed bonds. walsh emerges too, gait steady, almost hovering across dry grass.[break][break]

The light did little to brighten her surroundings, the extremely thick mist making it so difficult to see. However instead, it was a sound instead that alerted her, something approaching her quickly. She barely puts her sword up in time to horrendously block the night slash. Slicing at her shoulder and ripping a part of her clothing as the Gliscor escapes into the fog once more. She grips her shoulder for a moment as the pain sobers her up momentarily. [break][break]

She looks around, a voice emerges from the nearby dry grass as the primal point hums behind her. declan walsh stood in front of her, so that's why the grunts left. She points her sword at him, it trembles slightly as the weight upon her shoulders made it difficult to raise. "Guess that makes two of us. [break][break]

Gliscor huh? This was going to be difficult, it was a fast pokemon...and this fog wasn't making it easier to fend it off. She returns her Marowak, opting to use her LAPRAS instead. "Hyper voice! Flush him out!" she orders as Lapras unleashes an ear piercing shriek into the environment intent on harming gliscor regardless of where he was.

the shrill cries of melody's lapras lure the gliscor out. from the fog, its chambered ears cringe.[break][break]

"what do you have to prove with your sword?" walsh asks. there is no peak or valley to his chilling cadence. "can't an elite four manage with their pokemon alone?"[break][break]

he recalls his gliscor much to its dismay. in exchange, his NIDOKING lands on the mountain peak.[break][break]

"rush it. aim for its throat."[break][break]

the amaranthine behemoth lunges for the lapras. as it swings its claw toward its opponent's neck, it suddenly dips, swinging its tail toward the siren with THROAT CHOP.[break][break]

She grips her sword tighter in response to his question. He asked her a fair question, shouldn't it be beneath someone of her stature to use such a medieval weapon? "My Pokémon fight for me." she says getting into her proper pose as Cobalion and Gwyar Wledig taught her. "So I fight for them." she says as she stays in place, not sure if she should engage him so easily. There could be other people in the wings waiting for her to step out of place in the fog.

He knew what he was doing, of course he did. He was their leader, he surely fought many battles. [break][break]

lapras wasn't able to really dodge on land and the nidoking was too quick on it's feet leaving her unable to use protect to stop the attack. However, with Nidoking so close. "Bite back! Freeze dry!" she orders as Lapras cries out from the THROAT CHOP and it becomes mute for the next three turns. [break][break]

As the lapras attempts to bite down on the Nidoking's tail, the transport pokemon's horn glows a blue and purple light, firing a beam of freezing ice at the Pokémon in retaliation for it's attack.

the tail is bitten, forcing the behemoth to snarl in pain. frigid ice crusts on the nidoking's tough carapace for severe SUPER EFFECTIVE damage.[break][break]

it wavers.[break][break]

but still stands.[break][break]

"POISON JAB." the boss shouts.[break][break]

the nidoking's tail glows with putrid purples and swings with the lapras' mouth around it, should it still have its hold.[break][break]

"Shut up!" she says cutting him off suddenly as it seemed like he hit a nerve regarding feelings. [break][break]

She clenches both of her fists. "You don't get to tell me how me or my Pokémon feel! No one gets to tell me how we feel anymore!" she says raising her sword and pointing it at him as he gets closer, it still trembles slightly as Melody hasn't really ever tried to kill a person (well a real one, cyberchase holograms didn't count.) [break][break]

She had enough of him, she wasn't going to be holding back at all. She couldn't afford to hold back, not against him, she shouldn't hold herself back anymore. She was going to pull out all the stops as Melody reaches into her pocket and puts on a ring. "You're going down! here and now Declan!" she barks at him as a fierce determination sparked in her eyes as Melody pulled out her LAPRASITE. [break][break]

During her little speech, Lapras was taken for a ride, the tail's purple glow infecting Lapras with POISON. [break][break]

yet the poison didn't linger for very long, Lapras opens its maw and slides over to Melody's side of the field with a flourish as it begins to grow in size and stature, transforming. It tried to roar but the THROAT CHOP prevents it from doing so. "G-max resonance!" She shouts as balls of ice start to fall from the sky and try to crush nidoking.

as the lapras chokes, the boss snarls. "TOXIC, then STONE EDGE."[break][break]

the drill pokemon swings its freed tail back. able to balance its large, muscular frame, the brute charges for the mega-evolving lapras with its full weight.[break][break]

from its horn, a TOXIC is lobbed at the lapras before a STONE EDGE tears out from the earth. as the sharp rocks rise, the G-MAX RESONANCE collides with them in a spectacular shower of winter and consecrated earth.[break][break]

clouds of debris erupt between the two pokemon. as they swell and roll away, walsh's nidoking's fallen form is revealed.[break][break]

the rocket boss shakes his head. recalls his nidoking quick.[break][break]

there is little time to spare; the clock is crushing underneath the imminent weight of the meteoroid.[break][break]

Her plan was successful, but not for the reasons he may have surmised. [break][break]

The Nidoking goes down, but not before unleashing a powerful blow after blow. Lapras's reliant nature shows however as despite the fact that it's body is already battered and bruised barely survives. A faint glimmer of light reveals the AURORA VEIL that protected both it and the primal point. [break][break]

The lapras cries out as the POISON FROM TOXIC continues to whittle away at it's health. Melody decides in that moment she had to take action herself, like cobalion had shown her as she rushes forward, attempting to clear her mind as she rushes towards walsh, sliding at him attempting to SLICE AT HIS LEGS
